Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Sonoma RacefuelZ Pro Superbike Recap
Sonoma, CA – May 4, 2014 – Everything came up smelling like roses for Roseville, CA, resident Cameron Beaubier as he started from the pole and won Round Two of the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha at his home track, Sonoma Raceway. Cameron’s teammate and three-time Superbike Champion Josh Hayes came in second in Sunday’s Pro Superbike race to make it a 1-2 finish for the Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha team.
Cameron, who was last year’s AMA Pro Racing Daytona Sportbike Champion, is having a phenomenal rookie season on his #2 Yamaha YZF-R1. Already a winner at Daytona in March in the AMA Pro SuperBike series, the northern Californian has now added a victory to his resume in the Superbike Shootout, as well.
When the race went green, Cameron got off to a good start, but he got balked on the inside in turn one, which shuffled him back to fifth. Undaunted, he went to work and began to make rapid and smooth move progress back to the front. He managed to pass Josh who was, as always, his toughest competitor on track, and then he managed to stretch out a fairly comfortable lead.
Following his win, Cameron commented, “I started on the pole, which is on the inside here at Sonoma Raceway, so I kind of got pinched off in the first turn, which shuffled me back to fifth. This track is very technical, and I’m glad I’ve upped my training this year because it’s helped me handle the big R1. I was able to work myself back up to Josh, who was in the lead, and it wasn’t easy to get around him. It’s great to get this win on my home track and in front of my family and friends.”
After Cameron got balked at the start, Josh was able to work himself into the lead where he stayed for a number of laps until he made a little mistake with Cameron right behind him. That brief lapse enabled Cameron to take the lead where he stayed all the way to the checkers.
“I don’t feel like I can be unhappy with my race after the way the weekend started,” Josh said. I was riding smooth, putting together the best race I could. I made a little mistake, and it really cost me. I rode hard to try to catch back up to Cameron. He rode a great race. It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten beaten like that, so congrats to my teammate. He’s riding really well.”
After two rounds of the Superbike Shootout, Cameron is leading the championship and Josh is currently third. The final round of the Shootout will be May 24 and 25 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT.

Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Sonoma Dynojet Pro Sportbike Recap
Sonoma, CA – May 4, 2014 – There aren’t many racetracks in the U.S. where Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha rider Garrett Gerloff hasn’t raced, but Sonoma Raceway was one of them. The first time was a charm for the Texan as he followed up his pole position from Saturday with an exciting Pro Sportbike win at Sonoma Raceway in Round Two of the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha. Garrett’s teammate JD Beach, meanwhile, improved on his qualifying position and finished just off the podium in fourth place.
The race was an exciting one from start to finish, and Garrett battled hard for the lead throughout the 20-lap contest. He moved to the front a couple of times, but he just couldn’t make it stick until the closing laps.
“I felt like I had something during those last couple of laps, and I was able to get back into the lead,” Garrett said. “It wasn’t an easy race, and (second-place finisher) Bobby (Fong) gave me all I could handle. We both ran a clean race, and it was fun. It’s been a little while since I’ve won, so I’m really glad to get the victory, especially here at Sonoma Raceway, where I’ve never raced before. I hope the fans enjoyed it as much as I did.”
After two rounds of the Superbike Shootout, Garrett is tied for the championship lead. The final round of the Shootout, to decide it all in Pro Sportbike, will be May 24 and 25 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT.

Beaubier Has “Extra Motivation” To Win At Arai Pacific Nationals
Cypress, CA – April 29, 2014 – Following right on the heels of a very successful Round One of the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha, the Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams travel to northern California for this weekend’s Pacific Nationals at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, CA.
And, if this weekend’s Pacific Nationals are anything like the Yamaha SoCal Nationals last weekend, the fans are in for some great racing, as well as lots of activities that Yamaha has planned. In addition, Yamaha is extending a special invitation to American service men and women to visit the Yamaha hospitality area at Sonoma Raceway during the race weekend.
Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Superbike
After finishing second and third this past Sunday in a barnburner of a Pro Superbike race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA, teammates Cameron Beaubier and Josh Hayes will go head-to-head on Sonoma Raceway’s 11-turn, 2.32-mile road course, and both Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike riders will be fighting hard for the win.
Cameron, who lives in nearby Roseville, said, “I’m really looking forward to putting on a good show and getting the win at Sonoma Raceway. The track is really close to where I live, and I’ve got a lot of family and friends coming out to see me. Of course, I always want to win every race I enter, but this weekend, there’s extra motivation to get the victory.”
Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Sportbike
Riding their #8 and #6 Yamaha YZF-R6 Sportbikes, Garrett Gerloff and JD Beach raced hard in this past Sunday’s Pro Sportbike race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA, with Garrett finishing second and JD coming in fifth. Both riders are overjoyed to be racing again this weekend, so they improve on their Fontana results.
About this weekend’s Pacific Nationals at Sonoma Raceway, JD said, “One race weekend right after another is how I like to do things, and I really enjoy Sonoma Raceway. My fifth-place result at Fontana isn’t where my team and I want to be, so I’m super-motivated to get my Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha R6 up front where it belongs.”
Meet Josh, Cameron, Garrett, and JD This Weekend
Yamaha’s “Fast Four” will be available to meet fans and sign autographs throughout the weekend, and a special team autograph session will take place at the Yamaha garage area on race day, which is Sunday, May 4, from 1:15 to 2:00 PM PST.

Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Riders Beaubier, Hayes Yamaha SoCal Nationals Race Recap
From a Press Release Issued by Yamaha:
Fontana, CA – April 27, 2014 – Round One of the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha was an absolute barnburner as the dynamic duo of Cameron Beaubier and Josh Hayes fought hard for the win in today’s Yamaha SoCal Nationals Pro Superbike Race at Auto Club Speedway. At the checkers, Cameron took second place while Josh finished third.
Josh led for the majority of the race, but he was balked in the closing laps by a couple of slower riders who not only forced the three-time Superbike Champion off his preferred racing line, but he and his #4 Yamaha YZF-R1 ended up literally off the track. The incident unfortunately pushed Josh back to fifth.
Meanwhile, Cameron was also in the lead pack and took up the cause for the Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha team, where he led the 20-lap race for part of lap 17 and all of lap 18. Cameron battled with his old Sportbike nemesis Martin Cardenas for the win, and Martin ultimately got the victory.
Josh got back up to fourth place and, right before the finish line, he managed to pass Roger Hayden for third.
After the race, Cameron said, “Martin and I had a great battle just like we used to in Sportbike. He was doing a good job blocking the inside line, so I tried to go on the outside and square him up. It was a fun race, and I wished I’d won, but I’m happy to get second today.”
“Overall, I feel pretty good about my day,” Josh commented. “I had about five guys come right up the back of me with only about three laps to go in the race, and I went off the track. I fought back and, on the last lap, got a really good drive coming onto the front straight. I passed Rog right at the stripe, so I’m really glad to get on the podium for my team.”

Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Riders Gerloff, Beach Yamaha SoCal Nationals Race Recap
From a Press Release Issued by Yamaha:
Fontana, CA – April 27, 2014 – In Round One of the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha, Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha teammates Garrett Gerloff and JD Beach both finished in the top five of today’s Yamaha SoCal Nationals Pro Sportbike Race at Auto Club Speedway. Garrett finished in second place after a spirited charge to the front, and JD netted a solid fifth-place result, while he continues to acclimate to his new team.
Garrett got a good start from the second row of the grid, but a missed shift caused his #8 Yamaha YZF-R6 Pro Sportbike to overrev, and it momentarily shut off as a safety precaution. He quickly got the bike running again and proceeded on his way, albeit a fair distance back in the field. Despite the adversity, Garrett went to work and started moving towards the lead. As the laps wound down, he made his way all the up to second place. Unfortunately, there weren’t enough laps left in race for Garrett to get close enough to challenge for the lead.
After the race, Garrett said, “I got a good launch and kind of missed a shift into second gear. The bike revved and stopped running, so that put me in a difficult situation. I didn’t give up, though, and I decided to just work on putting down fast lap after fast lap. I was happy that I was able to get back up to second place and get on the podium, but not so happy that I had a bad start.
If I could have been a bit little closer to the front, I might have been able to fight for the win. I’m glad that we have a race next weekend at Sonoma (Round Two of the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha at Sonoma Raceway) because I’m so hungry for a win!”
